Client site: Heart Shopping Centre, Walton-on-Thames, Surrey
This long-term project was to replace cladding and decking on the curved Heart Shopping Centre in the middle of Walton-on-Thames. We used traditional tube and fitting scaffolding on this project, with a keen eye on health and safety, as the project was due to last for more than 12 months, and so the public would be walking around the site and using the shopping centre constantly.
The shape of the building, which includes splays and balconies as well as a top storey that’s smaller than the rest of the building’s footprint, meant that we had to use gantries and clever design to give appropriate access to DMC’s workforce, whilst making sure that we met all the required health and safety standards.
